Saltus appoints new COO for next phase of growth

Wealth management firm Saltus has appointed Alistair Stuart as its new chief operating officer (COO).

The company said the new hire will accelerate its ambitious growth plans, which include driving the development of the Saltus Partnership Programme.

The programme was launched in September 2023 to provide flexible financial and operational support to independent financial planning businesses looking to grow, maximise profitability and to those considering exit.

Stuart’s career in financial services includes senior roles at the European Depository Bank, Investec, RBS and Westpac.

Most recently he has served as director of operations transformation at Nationwide Building Society.

With more than 30 years’ experience in the wealth and private banking sector, both in the UK and globally, Stuart has significant expertise in designing and delivering transformation strategies for client focused organisations.

This includes building and launching digital financial services in the UK and Europe.

Saltus chief executive Jon Macintosh said: “Alistair is an energetic, enthusiastic and talented leader, with a detailed knowledge and understanding of both the industry as a whole and what we’re looking to achieve with the Saltus Partnership Programme specifically.

“As we continue our rapid growth, Alistair’s wealth of experience and unique perspective will help us ensure the business continues to scale effectively while providing best in class experiences for clients.”

Stuart said: “There are significant challenges facing wealth management firms today, with new technology, AI, regulation, and global market uncertainties just some of the major issues facing owner-managers.

“The businesses able to navigate this landscape without losing the human touch, balanced with a drive for innovation and technological advancement, will be the ones that thrive.

“It was immediately clear to me that Saltus is well-placed to innovate in all of these areas, with the passion to deliver on its insurgent mission, to do things differently and improve everyone’s relationship with their wealth.”

He added that this “strong cultural DNA that runs through everyone on the team”.

“This came across in everyone I met and was a major differentiator for Saltus and the reason why I was keen to join the team,” he said.

“In combination, this is a powerful and exciting mix that really made Saltus stand out from the crowd, and I am delighted to be taking up this role in driving the next phase of growth.”
