Quilter poaches FCA lead as new reporting and governance manager

Darius McQuaid

Quilter has appointed Alexander Kirby as reporting and governance manager.

He joins from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), where he held the position of lead associate in the regulator’s wholesale authorisations department.

Kirby’s role at the regulator included analysing and implementing regulatory change regarding environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) disclosure rules.

He also acted as lead subject matter expert on the delivery of Consumer Duty to the department, and assessed the effectiveness of firms’ compliance frameworks and governance arrangements.

At Quilter, Kirby will focus on corporate sustainability reporting and disclosure.

He will support Quilter Investors head of responsible investment Marisol Hernadnez and Quilter Cheviot executive director Gemma Woodward, who have joint responsibility for delivering the firm’s corporate sustainability agenda.

Woodward said: “Alexander has extensive experience in investment and ESG related compliance, bringing valuable expertise in navigating regulatory environments to the team.

“We need to make sure that we are making a positive contribution to our customers, colleagues, the businesses we work with and the wider society in which we operate.

“Alex comes with the experience, passion and commitment to ensure that we can lead in this endeavour.”

Kirby added: “We all have a role to play in acting as stewards of our communities and our environment, and the financial services industry has a duty to consider its social and environmental impact.

“I am passionate about sustainability and am excited to be joining the team at Quilter.”

On 6 March, Quilter made “significant changes” to its financial adviser school.

The business said it will evolve its current school into a more development-focused academy.

It will still provide training to achieve the level 4 diploma in financial planning. But it will now also offer adviser development training.

This will provide the foundation for students to transition from education into being financial planners.

Quilter will offer both full-time and part-time courses.
